Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, demons, and dark forces increasing in power within the city.
Note: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear unsuited, but the events of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group knows exactly where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the party reach locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to head to Timmony in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Planners groups.
Audiences can expect finding out which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
